Two years earlier, before they were officially a couple, Maegan surprised Jon with a stay at the same luxury hotel. A day of massages and ocean views that marked the start of something beautiful. So when Jon decided it was time to propose, he knew there was only one place that felt right.
He wanted the moment to be intimate, emotional, and filled with all the things that make their relationship so unique – laughter, happy tears, and one very excited pup waiting nearby.
The Perfect Oak Bay Beach Hotel Proposal
After a day at the spa and massages (just like that first trip), he led Maegan out for a walk through the gardens before dinner. The gardens at Oak Bay Beach Hotel were alive with summer colour.
Jon had planned every detail with the help of the hotel’s events team. Her favourite song was playing softly, flower bouquets were arranged beautifully, petals blanketed the path to the ocean and the breeze carried that unmistakable sense of anticipation. Under a clear blue July sky, as they reached the oceanfront, he stopped, smiled, and dropped to one knee.

With a little help from Brides with Dogs, just steps away, their dog Indie — a lively 40-pound spaniel — waited eagerly to join the celebration.
