Wedding Photographer Captures Wet West Coast Forest Elopement near Campbell River BC
Laura & Eric’s Campbell River Wedding happened in the beautiful, rich forest on the west coast of Canada. Their own private Forest Elopement was deep in the bushes near Elk Falls Provincial Park. As a Wedding Photographer, I rarely shoot outside when it’s raining, but this was my chance.
The morning started a little unknown as we were potentially going to be flying if the weather was nice. Sadly, it was much too foggy to fly and the visibility was terrible – but luckily for us, we found the most intimate, private spot for their forest elopement.
I LOVE the way the rain looks in their photos. These two were far too into each other to notice the cold. They bundled up, got muddy, very wet, and spent some time exploring all that nature had to offer during their wedding day near Campbell River BC.
These two really wanted a special, memorable elopement, and I’d say they nailed it.

I’ve been the Wedding Photographer at a handful of outdoor weddings, but it’s not often I have been able to witness a forest elopement surrounded by absolute giants for trees. The forests around Campbell River have always been a favourite place of mine growing up, but Elk Falls is next level.
After the intimate forest elopement ceremony, Laura, Eric, the wedding videographer and myself headed down to a little area called Deer Falls. Similar to Elk Falls, Deer Falls is smaller and much more private. It actually has a great, fresh swimming hole in the summer (but it’s always a little chilly in there).
Once we got to the water, I guided these two to a few nice locations for their wedding portraits and couple photography shots. Sometimes I gave prompts or a little bit of direction, but for the most part these two were just so into each other that I didn’t have to say much!

With most Wedding Photography clients, I capture all these different events during the day, like the getting ready process, ceremony, family photos, cocktail hour, etc. But when it comes to elopements, my time is spent solely with the couple!
I love this time because we can do whatever we want. We did a little ‘first dance’ in the forest and by the water. Couples also have the option to bring cake/cupcakes or some champagne to pop. In this case, it was far too wet for a champagne spray hahha. We just enjoyed the calm of the forest, the sounds of the rain on the water, and the company of each other during their Campbell River wedding.
