A picturesque beach resort on Vancouver Island set the stage for a breathtaking wedding that seamlessly blended nature with heartfelt emotions. This unforgettable celebration not only showcased the love between this beautiful couple but also provided a stunning canvas for stunning wedding photography. In this article, we’ll dive into the details of this magical event, offering insights for couples seeking a perfect beach wedding and those searching for a skilled Wedding Photographer on Vancouver Island.

The Venue: Alder’s Beach Resort in Merville, BC

This beautiful Merville Outdoor Wedding Venue provided the perfect combination of being in the trees and being just steps away from the stunning oceanfront. Set amidst the tranquil embrace of ancient woods, the venue exudes a rustic feel, with towering trees providing a natural canopy. Sun-dappled pathways wind through the forest, leading to a truly breathtaking oceanfront.

The seamless union of lush woodlands and the expansive ocean created an atmosphere that was both grounding and invigorating, offering this couple and their guests a magical setting for an unforgettable celebration of love. As a Vancouver Island Wedding Photographer, I haven’t seen many Outdoor Wedding Venues quite like this one. The entire family was able to stay on site with all 100+ guests making their wedding last an entire week.

Comox Valley Wedding Venues are quite hard to come by but I would highly recommend Alder’s Beach Resort in Merville, BC because of all of these things: Privacy, Nature, Oceanfront, held all guests for the week, spacious, a hidden gem and much more.

Getting Ready

The bride, surrounded by her best friends and family, takes a moment to truly soak in the day that’s ahead. The room is filled with lace, flowers, and that fresh, floral scent that just screams ‘wedding day’. I always love this part as I get to watch all the bride’s closest people help her into her stunning gown. There’s giggles, shared stories, and just so much love in the room. Meanwhile, in another corner, the groom and his squad are getting ready for the big day too.

As a wedding photographer, these are the moments I live for. I get to capture all the little things – the nervous smiles, the final adjustments, the happy jitters.

Wedding Party Photos

After the ‘getting ready’ whirlwind, it’s time for some serious fun with the wedding party! We find the perfect spot, maybe bathed in soft, natural light, or against a beautiful backdrop that the venue has to offer. The energy is infectious as the bridesmaids and groomsmen strike poses, exchanging jokes and sharing in the excitement.

Photographer Tip: I encourage the wedding party to bring music and a cooler so you are all happy, fed, and dancing!

The Ceremony

The ceremony spoke volumes about the couple’s unique love story. The officiant’s calming voice led a heartfelt exchange of vows, accompanied by the soothing sounds and feelings of being close to the ocean. As the sun was setting, the couple exchanged rings and excitedly made their commitment to each other.

It felt like such an honour to be part of this couple’s special day and see the joy on all of their friends and families faces as they tied the knot. With such a big and beautiful setting behind them, their love was also able to bring such an intimacy to the setting that gave the ceremony such a magical feeling.

As a Wedding Photographer, the end of the ceremony is my absolute favourite to capture. There is just so much joy when a couple is announced as officially married for the first time.

The Reception

Alder’s Beach Resort provided the most beautiful reception area. Everything came together so beautifully and gave such a romantic atmosphere with lights strung all over and so many elegant details combined with nature.

I truly loved getting to capture this special day at Alder’s Beach Resort!

Golden Hour Photos

As the sun dips low in the sky, painting everything in a warm, golden hue, it’s time to steal the wedding party for those enchanting golden hour photos. The atmosphere is pure magic, with the soft glow wrapping around you like a warm embrace.

I’m there to capture it all, making sure these photos aren’t just pictures, they’re pieces of your story, filled with warmth, love, and the promise of a lifetime together.

Photographer Tip: sneak away at Golden Hour or plan it in your timeline to do so!
