Nowadays hiring a wedding videographer is becoming a must for a lot of couples. There is just something so special about being able to relive one of the best days of your life 10 years later. With a wedding film you capture so much of the raw and real emotion on your wedding day that sometimes photos can’t capture. I wouldn’t say videography is more important than photography and vice versa, but I do think that if it is within your budget, both should be considered.
If you’re considering wedding videography, then this blog is for you. I talk all about the difference between a wedding trailer VS a wedding film and help you decide which is best for you!
What is a Wedding Trailer?
A wedding trailer usually involves just short highlights of the day. You are getting the best moments of your day put into a shorter form video that can be 1-2 minutes long. So you have to think of it as a movie trailer where you are seeing the best of the best highlights.
What are the Pros of getting a Wedding Trailer?
- If you are someone who just wants a quick exciting video of your day, then this is perfect!
- More affordable option while still getting professional video footage of your day. You still get a beautiful video without having to pay full price for a whole other wedding videography team.
- It is usually between 1-2 minutes so great for posting on social media!
- Wedding trailers are great to share with friends and family members who can’t be there.
- Most of the time these Wedding Trailers are more upbeat, fun, and celebratory!
What is a Wedding Film?
A wedding film is a much more involved type of wedding videography. You are getting much more coverage of the wedding and the film will usually be between 7-15 minutes. I even offer what I call a FOMO (fear of missing out) package which includes up to 20 minutes on film. This is more of like a documentary style wedding film which is great to share with those who may not have been able to attend your wedding.
Hiring a Wedding Videographer to have a Wedding Film made is like getting a professional movie done of your wedding day. The biggest benefit in my opinion is the fact that there is a lot of audio involved. You can add in your vows, speeches, little words spoken during your first look, with your parents, your family and friends. Honestly whatever audio you want, you can have!
What are the Pros of getting a Wedding Film?
- With a wedding film, you’re getting a lot of audio which can include vows, speeches, etc.
- There’s much more storytelling involved in a wedding film so you really get a sense of what it was like to be there on the wedding day.
- It’s a great way to share your wedding day with those who were unable to attend.
- Wedding films are also so special because when you are watching your wedding day back in 10 years, you can relive one of the most special days of your lives together. It is great for celebrating an anniversary or to show your kids when they are older. It is truly so special to see all of the most memorable moments of your wedding day like your vows, first kiss, first dance, and celebrating with all those who you love most!
- You get to remember all of the special moments with your friends and family like dancing all night and your bridesmaid or groomsmens epic speech.
- You get a real time playback of all of the beautiful parts of your wedding day that no amount of photos can capture!
Why You Should Make Wedding Videography a Priority on Your Wedding Day!
Whether you want a short wedding trailer to relive the best moments of your day or you want the whole thing filmed, I promise you won’t regret it. Think about what its going to be like 10, 20 or even 30 years down the line when you’re able to look back on your wedding video. That is something truly so special! In 30 years the price you paid to get that wedding film won’t matter when you’re getting to relive one of the best days of your life.
After investing so much time, energy, and money into your wedding day, your photos and wedding videos are what will stand the test of time.
Whether you opt for something short and sweet like a wedding trailer or someone longer and more intimate, I believe that hiring a wedding videographer should be a must for your wedding day! The number one regret I hear from most of my brides is that they wished that they had also done a wedding video!
